We are an official Visit Bristol Member

We are proud to be members of Visit Bristol. As a local family business we are also proud to be Bristolians. Tourism and travel is at the heart of Bristolโ€™s history and current day economy. Being members of Visit Bristol gives us a voice locally and nationally to influence and improve tourism both here and throughout the UK. We are delighted that we meet the requirements to be a Visit Bristol member.

So, why visit Bristol?

Bristol is amazing and itโ€™s got nothing to do with the Motorhome Holiday Company being based here and a member of Visit Bristol. Okay, itโ€™s got something to do with it, but the birthplace of Cary Grant, Johnny Ball and Stephen Merchant, and the home of Banksy AND Wallace and Gromit absolutely rocks. Oh, and Massive Attack, Portishead and Idles have something to do with that.

Our customers travel from far and wide (sometimes from across seas), but often the most loyal returning customers are our local Bristolians. We donโ€™t need to convince them that where they live is a fantastic place to be, but if youโ€™re coming to hire with us then you donโ€™t need to travel far down the road to have a great motorhome adventure!

If we counted all those greats of stage and screen who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and still tread the boards at Britainโ€™s oldest working theatre, weโ€™d run out of space after weโ€™d name-checked Olivia Colman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Jeremy Irons, Miranda Richardson, Gene Wilder, Mark Strong, Naomi Harrisโ€ฆ And we donโ€™t have enough fingers to count the number of Oscars that currently reside in our city, but Aardman Animations has four all on its own!

Whilst youโ€™re very likely to see some familiar faces as you wander our streets, itโ€™s the streets themselves that are a greater attraction. Take the cobbled stretch of King Street; not only is it home to the Bristol Old Vicโ€™s Theatre Royal, but a hop, skip and a jump further on is the Llandoger Trow, an historic public house dating from 1664 and upon which the Admiral Benbow Inn from Treasure Island was based, and where Daniel Defoe found his inspiration for Robinson Crusoe.

Then thereโ€™s Corn Street, famous for St Nicholas Market, the Corn Exchange and a clock with two minute hands. Nope, weโ€™re not telling you why; youโ€™ll just have to come here to find out for yourselves. Cabotโ€™s Circus is the shopping hub of Bristol city centre, but a stroll up Gloucester road leads you to a world of quirky shops and cafes, and the more relaxed and multi-cultural delights of Montpelier, Easton and St Pauls where thereโ€™s a genuine feel of community and โ€˜being in it together.โ€™

Donโ€™t take our word for it; thereโ€™s plenty of evidence to back it up. It was reported that, in 2017, the visitor economy to Bristol and South Gloucestershire was worth more than ยฃ1.3bn to the local economy. By working with local councils, businesses and tourism partners, Visit Bristol has worked to make sure that both the locals and welcomed visitors receive the same great experience, which is why we were delighted to become a Visit Bristol member.
Getting here is a piece of cake, with a fantastic rail network stretching to all compass points, motorway links that bring you right to the heart of the city, and a truly international airport from which weโ€™re less that ten miles, and regularly collect our foreign customers, saving them a taxi fare.

Weโ€™ve found that several of our returning customers have bolted on an extra week to enjoy the city and surrounding villages and countryside โ€“ and the nearby city of Bath for that matter. Basing yourself at a local campsite you can take in the surrounding nature of the Mendip Hills and walks that take you to the stunning views across Blagdon Lake and Chew Valley. When you sit outside in the evening with glass of something chilled, youโ€™d never know that youโ€™re half an hourโ€™s drive from one of the UKโ€™s most vibrant, historic cities.

In the summer months, youโ€™ll have the freedom of parks, castles and open spaces as well as the choice of the kite, comedy, film and music festivals and one of Europeโ€™s biggest balloon fiestas, whilst in the indoor months there are museums, galleries, adventure golf, bowling alleys, climbing walls and cinemas aplenty.

Or why not book for the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta – one of the cities best known events. You’ll need to book early with us as it’s right in the middle of the school summer holidays.  Book onto a campsite close to the event and avoid the traffic queues to get in. Wake up to hot air balloons ascending overhead! It’s a real spectacle and one we are proud to have been associated with as sponsor for many years.

Quite frankly, we could fill our entire brochure on things to see and do in Bristol, but instead weโ€™ll happily point you in the direction of all the resources you need to enjoy a fantastic, exciting, peaceful, vibrant, chilled, indoor, outdoor, aerial, grounded, amble, float, drive and sail around this wonderful city of Bristol.
