The motorhome and caravan industry continues to grow and thrive despite the obvious challenges of our time. Recent hikes in motorhome road tax will be sure to present a challenge into 2020 meaning the concept of hiring a motorhome rather than buying new will be more appealing for many. We have continued to see growth in agency style businesses that offer to rent out motorhomes on behalf of individuals or companies that own them, similar to the Airbnb model of finding rooms to rent. This means a motorhome hire holiday is not only becoming more popular, it is also much more accessible and affordable for anyone looking to take their next adventure on four wheels.
So, we’re doing things a bit different this year
Big exhibition like the NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show are fantastic for meeting those who are fully fledged motorhome lovers and those who are open to being amazed by the range of vehicles out there.
The issue facing small businesses is often the cost; often too expensive for a small business to consider, meaning that they miss out on their chance to shine.
This made our very own Matt start thinking. And for anyone who knows Matt, they know this can sometimes be a dangerous thing!
Matt’s vision was to bring create a collaboration of reputable hire companies from across the UK and bring them together, creating an exhibition stand of participants that could offer the consumer choice on where to hire a motorhome from.
The businesses represented are all trusted operations, ranging from small family setups with just a few motorhomes, and larger companies with a fleet of up to 30 motorhomes to choose from. All have the correct insurance, gas safe certificates and 5* reviews online.
Matt, on discussing his idea, said
“Collaborating like this is a fantastic way of building our trade community and offering the consumer a wider choice and raises awareness of some of the independent hire company. We are all properly insured, operating to a high standard and taking great care of our customers. Our motorhomes are properly inspected, serviced, checked and prepped. Safety is of paramount concern to us with Gas Safe certificates being issued to all our motorhomes every year. Our aim is to raise the standard of motorhome hire in the UK, whilst simultaneously raising awareness of different Motorhome Hire operators in the UK.”
The stand will feature a map of the UK with pins showing the location of each company so consumers can select their ideal hire motorhomes by location. Members from each company will be on hand throughout the week promoting one another with literature on hand to take away.
We will also be running a competition to ‘Win a Motorhome Weekend Holiday.’
The competition is free to enter with a winner being pulled at random at the end of the week. The winner can then choose from which company represented to collect their weekend holiday prize.
Matt went on to say:
“We are sure the show will be a success for all the companies contributing. If it works well we may do this again in the future and who knows what else will come from it! Working together like this is fantastic as it means we can point customers to trusted suppliers in their area too. Come and say hi and discover more about motorhome hire, nationally.”

The show runs from Tuesday 5th October until Sunday 20th October and is open at 10am each day.
Parking at the NEC is free with tickets available for entry at the show.
