With new Covid-19 risks, the impact to our business and to the travel industry as a whole, we’ve had to rethink your experience with us. This includes rethinking our motorhome cleaning measures.
As you know, we’ve always taken so much pride in the cleanliness and presentation of our motorhomes. Great customer experiences are the core of what we do.
Thatโs precisely why we have Jude, Pat and Stuart on our team. AKA our motorhome sanitation engineers (thatโs โcleanerโ to you), who are as happy as a pig in, well, soapsuds actually, when they are freshening up each motorhome for its next road trip.
Apart from being the life and souls of the Motorhome Holiday Company office, out in the yard Jude, Pat and Stuart are the Princesses of Perfection, the King of Cleanliness and the Spatulas of Spotlessness.
Okay, we need to work on that last one, but you get the idea.
Ultra professional motorhome cleaning
After hours of research, studying chemical data sheets, discussion, and debate (and just a few tears) this is our way forward.
We sought professional advice and training and have implemented a new procedure of cleaning and sterilising our motorhomes. These measures are robust, guarantee great quality control, and are safe for both our team and you.
We have outsourced the antiviral cleaning of our motorhomes to a professional company. This ensures it is delivered correctly, effectively, and guarantees for you, our customer, that it has been done properly.
The Motorhome Holiday Company team have also undergone further training by going back to virtual university, with certification on the prevention of infectious diseases, and the management and treatment of COVID-19 cleaning.
Returning your motorhome to us
On returning the motorhome, our team will greet you wearing a face mask and gloves. The motorhome will be emptied by you, and we ask you to fill the crate with the cutlery and crockery in preparation for it to be sterilised.
The motorhome habitation area will then be sprayed with BIO-Blast from Autosmart, a sprayable disinfectant and sanitiser used extensively in the transportation industry. Once the motorhome is then left to stand for a few minutes, we will enter to do our check.
Once this is complete the motorhome will be signed back to us and your hire is officially over.
Bring in Sand Lizard!
Sand Lizard are based close to us in Somerset, and we are delighted to find a partner who are local and part of our local economy.
Their team provide an antiviral treatment to every motorhome using a specialist fogging machine and a solution called Atmosan. This contains an active ingredient called Hypochlorous acid (HOCI) and contains no alcohol or bleach and has no odour.
The fogging is implemented by one of Sand Lizard’s professional staff wearing a full protective body suit, breathing equipment, and full PPE.
The team at Sand Lizard have been instrumental in training our team on the cleaning of surfaces, in what we call a fingertip clean, using their specialist diluted form of chemical. Attention to detail in this robust plan has been absolutely key.
Each motorhome is regularly dry mist treated by the team using the fogging machine. This process is carried out overnight with the motorhome sealed for two hours and then allowed to breathe. Appliances, like the kettle and toaster, are put on the motorhome table during the dry mist process.
After the fogging
Following the fogging, our trained and qualified team then carry out their normal, deep clean of the motorhome, with all cutlery, crockery removed from the motorhome and put through a hot wash in the dishwasher to sterilise further.
Our finger tip clean can then take place safely and uses a product called Endosan โ a hydrogen peroxide based cleaning agent.
EndoSan is truly biodegradable and leaves no residual in the end-product. Post disinfection, EndoSan degrades into water and oxygen, substances that are found naturally.
This product ensures a high level of medical hygiene with proven efficacy against micro-organisms including C.Di๏ฌ, MRSA, Legionella, E-Coli, Adenovirus, Polio, Pseudomonas and Norovirus.
It is a DERFA approved product and completely environmentally friendly.
We do all the nitty gritty work
Our entire team take great care to follow the governmentโs guidelines on removing every possible trace of dirt or virus that might conceivably have found in or on the motorhome.
On the outside, Stuart soaps, scrubs, hoses and wipes dry every inch of the bodywork (including the roof!) and wheels. Every handle is washed and buffed; every step is scrubbed.
Inside, all the standard cleaning goes ahead. Waste tanks are emptied and treated. Toilet cassettes are emptied, treated, cleaned and prepped. Bathrooms are washed and disinfected.
Every mattress and cushion are cleaned, aired and refitted. Each cupboard vacuumed out and wiped. The fridge, oven and microwave are meticulously cleaned.
We’re telling you, you don’t want to get on the wrong side of our cleaning team, because you better believe they can get rid of every trace of evidence you were ever there.
