Winter Motorhome Holiday Destinations

So, the clocks have gone back. The night sky is drawing in earlier and the mornings growing crisper each day. Like us, you might be missing those days lounging in the summer sun or splashing in the sea, but does that mean you can’t look forward to a holiday over the next few months? We say nay! Motorhome holidays can be an all year round pastime, and what better way to spend those chilly night than wrapped up with a hot chocolate in your cozy four-wheeled home, overlooking some beautiful wintry landscapes. If you need some inspiration, we’ve put together a few of our favourite winter holiday destinations that are perfect for a motorhome adventure. Many are tried and tested by our own customers (spoiler: they all had a great time and loved their motorhome experience).

Due to the rise in popularity of alternate camping styles like shepherd huts, heated bell tents and tipis, many campsites are now open all year round for guests. That means motorhome, campervan and caravan enthusiasts can take advantage of the opportunities to stay all over the UK, no matter what month of the year!

Home Farm – The Quantocks

Home Farm in the Quantocks offers winter and all year round stays for motorhomes, caravans and more. It has an indoor heated pool and is a great family holiday destination, located in Williton, Somerset. We can personally recommend Kilve beach for a great walk with lots of opportunities to go fossil hunting along the coast. With the town of Minehead and Dunster Castle nearby, you can rest assured there are plenty of great walks and pubs nearby too.

Cornwall is blessed with many campsites and destinations to stay. Within easy reach of us, straight down the M5, it makes for the perfect winter motorhome holiday destination for your hire. Great for winter walks and always plenty to see and do. Although, in the winter it may be worth checking ahead for opening times, just to be safe. One of our favourite things about Cornwall is the micro climate nature of the weather. If you wake up in Penzance to wind and rain, you can simply head north or to a different coast as close as St Ives and you will often experience totally different weather.
One of our lovely customers, Louise, recently went to Cornwall with her family and loved it so much she decided to write about it. Read about her motorhome holiday here.

Stay closer to us in Chew Valley

Perhaps you want to experience the ‘home’ part of a motorhome rather than the ‘motor’. No need to travel far from us to experience a beautiful winter motorhome holiday.

One of our most popular destinations close by is the beautiful Chew Valley. With Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes, there are many walks to find, all with stunning views and lovely local pubs, including the Michelin star awarded The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna. We might be a little biased though, as some of our team live here and love it.
Close to Bath, Wells, Bristol, Glastonbury and more, you won’t be short of places to visit. Watch out though, as you could catch Matt on his way out to get the morning paper.

Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park is an award winning adult only site with a great reputation. Take a look here.

Can I use a Motorhome in the winter?

This is a common question we get asked and the answer is a resounding YES! We operate all year and run selected motorhomes during winter. Whilst all of our models have heating and hot water systems powered by gas and/or electric, we choose models to run that are perfect for winter sports, spending extended periods of time inside and give high levels of comfort. All our motorhomes are tried and tested in standing up to the winter cold whilst in use, so that you can have a cozy, hassle-free winter motorhome holiday.
