Blair Castle Caravan Park, Pitlochry

Aberfeldy Caravan and Camping Park, Aberfeldy
A friendly riverside campsite, just a short stroll to the market town of Aberfeldy. Stay here and, for a small fee, enjoy the leisure facilities of Moness Resort, including a pool, steam room, sauna and spa treatments.
Perthshire Days out
Best for Culture: Perth
One of Scotland’s seven cities and once the country’s capital, Perth is located on the River Tay, which is also Scotland’s longest river. A small vibrant city offering a great day out, you can explore the streets around the city centre and use the lanes and vennels (medieval back lanes) to find independent shopping areas, cafes, restaurants and historical buildings. Visit Perth’s Museum and Art Gallery with its iconic copper domed roof.
Along the banks of the River Tay you will find the stunning Norrie Miller walk, a unique attraction which is made even more impressive by the public arts trail featuring a variety of sculptures themed around the city and its people. From the end of January to February 14th there are spectacular light displays that transform the banks of the river into a magical wonderland.
For some awesome views of Perth and the River Tay, climb Kinnoull Hill in Kinnoull Hill country Park.
Best for families: Blair Castle
This Castle is the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and holds an important place in Scotland’s history. The Castle is simply magnificent, with 30 superbly furnished rooms and beautifully landscaped gardens. Regular events are held at the Castle, including Blair Castle international Horse Trails in August. Tractor tours are a great way to see the estate and wildlife including red deer, highland ponies and cows.
Best for Golf: Gleneagles
Whether you’re a novice or a pro, Gleneagles has to feature on your golfing checklist. This world class golf resort boasts 3 championship golf courses and is home to The Ryder Cup. If you’re thinking of learning, then why not do so at this famous site. With their Wee Golf Course, you can practice your newly learnt skills. (For the non golfers, we recommend the luxurious Gleneagles Spa)

Queen’s View
Possibly the most photographed view in Scotland, the Queen’s view in Highland Perthshire overlooks Loch Tummel. Rumoured to be named after Queen Victoria following her visit 1866, this stunning view point lies on the eastern edge of the Loch and is surrounded by part of the Tay Forest Park. In addition to the stunning view of the Loch and the iconic Schiehallion, the park also offers lots of walks for all abilities.
Waterfalls and Salmon leaping
Perthshire certainly has its fair share of spectacular waterfalls. In some of these, you can even witness Atlantic salmon battling their way up stream. This spectacular sight is best caught in Autumn, particularly the month of October, early in the morning or late in the evening (especially if it has rained). Some of the best places to see the Salmon are; Falls of Braan, Buchanty Spout in Crieff, Linn of Tummel and Pitlochry Dam and Salmon ladder. Not technically a waterfall, Pitlochry Dam and Salmon ladder consists of 34 pools, three of which are resting pools. Viewing windows overlook two of the pools, giving visitors a bird’s eye view of over 5000 Salmon that tackle this ladder every year.
Pitlochry
A quaint Victorian town 27 miles from Perth, Pitlochry is filled with picturesque architecture and floral displays. The River Tummel runs through the town and mountains surround the outskirts, creating an idyllic setting that is popular with walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Take a Safari
There are a lot of ways to see Perthshire, and we recommend one way is to do so on safari. Landrover Safaris take you deep into the highlands. Led by a tour guide, you’ll see all Perthshire’s beautiful scenery and possibly even spot the majestic red deer or soaring golden eagles. These safaris offer no shortage of photo opportunities.
White Water Rafting
Head to Pitlochry and into the River Tummel for this adrenaline filled, white knuckle inducing ride. For those looking for their first and slightly calmer water rafting adventure, the River Tay offers a gentler yet still thrilling ride. Quiet moments on the water give you time to take in the beautiful scenery… or to start a water fight!

Perth Farmers’ Market
If you wish to sample Perthshire’s finest produce then head along to the local farmers’ market, with 50 stalls selling locally produced food and drink. This farmers’ market is held on the 1st Saturday of the month at South Inch car park.
Picnics
With so many wonderful open spaces, views and wildlife, a picnic is the perfect way to sit and take in the beauty of Perthshire. Pop to the farmers’ market to fill up your basket and head to any of these popular picnic spots, Quarrymill Woodland Park, with BBQ areas and picnic benches; picnic area on the banks of Loch Dunmore; and The Ford at Little Glenshee, where the kids can paddle in the water.

Perthshire Whisky
Perthshire has six active distilleries and two that are just outside the boundary. All of which produce single malt whisky to the finest standard and are all worth a visit. Aberfeldy, Edradour, Blair Athol, Deanston, Tullibardine, Glenturret, Strathearn and, finally, Dalwhinnie.
The Taybank, Dunkeld
Located on the banks of the river Tay, The Taybank has a riverside beer garden with an incredible view. Well known for live music, musicians are welcome to grab a fiddle from the wall and start their own jam session. In the summer, the pub hosts other events, such as craft markets and small festivals.
