Best things to do on holiday in Cornwall

One of the most popular destination for the perfect Staycation, we want to highlight a few key places this beautiful county has to offer this season. In this edition we explore the enchanting areas of Newquay, Truro and Lands End, great destinations for your holiday in Cornwall.

Cornwall Beaches

Best for scenery: Kynance Cove

One of the most painted and photographed with brilliant turquoise water and white sand and since it appeared in an episode of Poldark it has become extremely popular too. At low tide you can explore the caves and islands, however you need to keep an eye on the tides as it is possible to get cut off!

Best for families: Mawgan Porth beach

A great family beach with plenty to do including caves, rockpools and even a large stream running down the southern side of the beach! Sheltered by high cliffs on either side, at low tide thereโ€™s enough room for everyone to find their own space without feeling overcrowded.

Best for dogs: Porthkidney

Porthkidney is a vast expanse of sands, facing Hayle Towans to the east of the estuary. At low tide the beach can stretch almost a mile out to sea.

Cornwall Days out

Best for an iconic landmark: Landโ€™s End

One of Britianโ€™s best-known landmarks, a visit to this iconic location is essential for any Staycationer visiting Cornwall. In ancient Greek times it was referred to as โ€˜Belerionโ€™ โ€“ Place of the Sun. Watching the sunset here is a truly magical experience with breath-taking views and beautiful scenery.

Best for wildlife: Bodmin Moor

Find your own corner of peace and tranquillity and Immerse yourself in the wild and rugged beauty of Bodmin Moor. One of Cornwall’s designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this remote, bleak heather covered upland granite moorland is still grazed by moorland ponies.

Best for families: Mevagissey

Fishing has always been central to Cornwalls economy and has shaped the counties towns, villages, coves and harbours over the years. Visiting a coastal village, cove or harbour to experience the gastronomical delights of freshly caught fish and shellfish will create a fond life-long memory for you and your family.
