Best for families: Blackpool
The iconic British seaside town, with its 6 mile sandy beach, promenade, 3 piers, famous tower, parks, spectacular illuminations, shops, art galleries and not to forget the infamous Tower Ballroom. There are so many attractions for everyone, whatever the weather.
Best for history: Lancaster
A vibrant city sat on the banks of the River Lune, this beautiful city has a castle, Georgian architecture and boutique shops and bars. Stroll along the canal towpath and St Georges Quay or discover Williamson Park with its secret paths, hidden follies and stunning Edwardian butterfly house.
Best for nature: The Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland
The Ribble Valley is a real hidden gem, a designated Area of Natural Beauty with quaint villages, a medieval castle and 14th century abbeys offering an array of gastronomic experiences from family dining to Michelin star restaurants.
The Forest of Bowland, covering 300 square miles of Lancashire and Yorkshire, is not only an Area of Natural Beauty but 13% is a Site of Special Specific Interest (SSSI) for it’s habitats and geological features. The Forest offers some beautiful, peaceful and remote walks as well as cycle paths. The wide open skies make it perfect for stargazing.
Lancashire Beaches
Best for families: Cleveleys Seafront
This beautiful long and sandy beach is backed by a promenade and the Jubilee Gardens. As well as a day of making sand castles and playing games, you can also stroll through art installations, visit the recently rebuilt sea defences and explore the abundant surrounding wildlife.
Best for views: Marine Beach, Fleetwood
You may not find Stevie Nicks roaming here, but you will find a beautiful sandy beach filled with sand dunes. Once a fishing port, this charming seaside town has a friendly family atmosphere with stunning views across the bay. We recommend watching the sunset over Morecambe and the Lake District. Dogs are allowed on the beach but part of it is restricted in summer.
Best for Dogs: Half Moon Bay, Heysham
A small beach with a mix of shingle and sand, with grass covered dunes and small cliffs. Dogs are welcome all year round, with beach parking and a cafe for visitors to enjoy. Heysham is a small harbour town with passenger ferries to Douglas (Isle of Man) and Belfast (Northern Ireland).

Illuminations
A spectacle everyone should see at least once, this is the greatest free light show on earth. Started in 1879, the Blackpool Illuminations attract millions of visitors every year. 6.2 miles long and over a million light bulbs, it runs for 66 days, from the end of August until November.
Sunderland Point
This small peninsula lies between Lancaster and Morecambe and is surrounded by salt marshes. With a haunting atmosphere, this lonely spot has beautiful views of the Lancashire hills and the fells of the Lake District. The peninsula is only accessible by a single track road at low tide, so plan your trip ahead and know when to turn back. On the peninsula is Sambo’s grave, which is said to be the resting place of a young black slave that died in 1736 after arriving at the port.

Lancashire butter pie
Lancashire is famous for butter pies (meat and potato pies) and one of the best places to go for one of these pies is Dean Bakery in Preston.
Local produce from Moor Hall
This award winning 2 Michelin star restaurant is in a grade 11* Gentry house. Set in five acres of beautiful gardens, patron chef Mark Birchall creates menus inspired from his surroundings and from home grown ingredients, showcasing modern British cuisine.

Lancaster brewery
One of the largest microbreweries in the North West, this multi award winning brewery has four core beers: Lancaster Blonde, Amber, Black and Red. The beer can be sampled on their tours or at The Tap House, a traditional bar close to the brewery.
Brindle Distillery
The home of Cuckoo Gin, made from spring water on the farm and both home grown and locally produced ingredients. Find out how they produce their gin with a guided tour of the distillery, or try a workshop where you can pick the botanicals and have a go at distilling your own gin in. Dogs are allowed on leads and children can enjoy the farm till 8pm.
